Slaughter with Care consultancy is a result of a year-long collaboration between inspectors from the animal-welfare organization Eyes on Animals and compassionate slaughtermen they met while on inspection. These slaughtermen ended up volunteering for Eyes on Animals to give humane-slaughter training courses in countries such as Turkey and Ghana, where Eyes on Animals has observed very poor slaughter conditions. As there are many requests for professional consultants now from slaughterhouses in western countries, it was necessary to found the consultancy organization Slaughter with Care so these could be taken on.

Slaughter with Care is a consultancy organization, not a charity as Eyes on Animals is. Slaughter With Care evolved from Eyes on Animals. Random and often unannounced inspections by Eyes on Animals of slaughterhouses showed the need for professional advice on how to improve animal welfare. Often it is the slaughterhouses now that are requesting this help. As consultancy is a paid job, it had to be separated from Eyes on Animals. Slaughter With Care allows freelance experts in humane slaughter to provide their help more frequently and where it is needed and accepted.

Eyes on Animals does not help kill animals, it helps put a stop to animals being unnecessarily hurt or frightened during slaughter. As long as there are billions of animals being slaughtered every year around the world, we see it as a duty to at least minimize their suffering. So do the freelancers of Slaughter With Care, that is why they now offer their professional services.

No. Slaughter with Care is a non-profit organization, not a for-profit company. It is solely founded to enable our team of professionals to work for slaughter-houses as animal-welfare consultants. The income from consultancy jobs only covers their expenses.

No. These are two separate organizations. Eyes on Animals is an animal-welfare charity that relies on donations and grants which are only used to cover expenses of their charitable work. No donations to Eyes on Animals are ever forwarded to Slaughter with Care. Slaughter With Care is a non-profit organization. Our freelance consultants are experts in humane handling and slaughter of animals and want to use their time and skills to decrease animal fear and pain in slaughterhouses in a professional way. To offer their services frequently and professionally, they charge for their time and expenses to the slaughter companies that hire them.

No. Eyes on Animals will continue to inspect slaughterhouses, announced and unannounced, open-minded ones and closed-minded ones, and try to convince as many as possible to improve. When there are animal welfare issues, dialogue is always the goal of Eyes on Animals. If an issue is not addressed, it is up to the local law enforcers to hold the plant accountable to legal requirements. If the plant wishes professional and intensive help of professional slaughtermen, ethologists and veterinarians to improve their animal welfare conditions, they can request a consultation with Slaughter with Care.

Slaughterhouses in western countries are legally obliged to take animal-welfare seriously in their plant. It is not something that a non-profit organization should have to help with. If our consultancy is requested, it needs to be paid for, as with any professional help. Slaughter with Care consultants will continue to volunteer for free for Eyes on Animals in countries that have horrible slaughter conditions that urgently need improving, where there is no legal pressure to do so, and no access to good equipment and educational material..

Not unless both parties (Slaughter with Care and the slaughterhouse) agree to share their story together. Slaughter with Care is a consultancy organization and works on the basis of confidentiality.
